Self-care is a vital aspect of leading a healthy and fulfilling life. It might be viewed as selfish or indulgent by some, but in reality, taking care of oneself is not only necessary but essential for maintaining your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Loving oneself is the foundation of self-care. Yup, you knew that but maybe somehow you’ve forgotten to put yourself first in your busy life! So what does this have to do with Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF)? Well, PEMF is a powerful tool but it works so much better when you are taking care of yourself in every way possible.
Discipline and Consistency
To create a successful self-care plan, it’s important to practice discipline and consistency. This can be achieved by setting aside dedicated time for self-care activities, such as exercise or meditation, and making them a regular part of your routine. Put it on your calendar! And of course you know that taking care of your body through regular exercise, proper nutrition, and regular check-ups with a healthcare provider is important but are these at the top of your “to do” list? Regular exercise not only improves physical health it also has a positive impact on mental and emotional well-being.
We naturally lose muscle and bone mass as we age but you can slow that down by consistently exercising – vigorously and consistently!
There’s a lot of talk about “brain health” these days. So guess what the most effective form of exercise for the brain is… EXERCISE!
2. Nutritional Self-Care
Eating a healthy diet also plays a vital role in maintaining physical health. Keep it simple. More fruits and vegetables and less animal products. Cut out the sugar and carbs and think fresh and raw! Clean out the cupboards and fridge of processed foods and anything that does not contribute to your wellbeing. You know what that is. Create an environment where your choices are all healthy.
Forget the fries, ditch the donuts, and can the Coke! Additionally, it is important to make sure you are getting enough sleep, as lack of sleep can have a detrimental effect on physical and mental health. Lack of sleep is often a contributor to excess weight.
3. Mental Self-Care
Mental self-care is just as important as physical self-care. That means taking care of your mind through practices such as mindfulness and meditation, as well as seeking support from a therapist, counselor, trusted advisor, or good friend when needed.
Mindfulness and meditation are powerful tools for reducing stress and anxiety, and promoting inner peace and calm. Take a class, watch a YouTube video on this but get started!

Exploring ways to express emotions in healthy ways, whether it’s talking things out with a good friend or therapist, or engaging in a form of self-expression such as art, dance, or music – now is a good time to get started.
5. Spiritual Self-Care
Spiritual self-care can be achieved through practices such as prayer, meditation, or connecting with nature but everyone has to decide for themselves what works.
Whatever you believe in or don’t believe in is fine but if it’s important to you, put it on the calendar, make it a priority and make it a consistent practice.
Whether your church is that Sunday service or that walk in the forest, commit to it and stay connected.
6. Put Yourself First
It is important to remember that self-care is not an indulgence, but a necessary practice for maintaining your overall health and well-being. Put YOU at the top of your to do list! Get started now! Put it, I mean, put YOU on the calendar.

- Schedule your spiritual practice
- Learn something new
- Laugh often
- Plan like you’re going to live forever but live like this is your last day
